We grew a large patch of sweet potatoes as part of our African Heritage garden this fall. They were planted as soon as the GET students were back at school in mid-august and were conveniently harvested in November and December for taste tests and the holiday meal. The vines are lush and beautiful and have gorgeous violet flowers (they are related to morning glories). Harvesting them is one of the garden activities GET students love best.

They joined sweet potatoes from The Family Garden in the holiday meal served the last week of school. So good.
