We were so excited to offer pomelos to our students as the September Harvest of the Month. Pomelos are the largest of all citrus and can be up to a foot in diameter. Ours were not quite so large, but still yielded 3.5 cups of fruit per pomelo!

Ours came from W.G. Roe in Winter Haven – about 135 miles south of Gainesville. W.G. moved to Florida in the 20s and expanded the fruit brokerage business he had in NY to growing the fruit himself. Now the Roe family grows many kinds of citrus as well as blueberries. The grand-children and great-grandchildren of W.G. run the business now. Adam Roe will be at our upcoming Family Farm and Field Day to sign trading cards!
