G.E.T student Devon enjoying his cucumber harvest with a smile

It’s time for the Cucumber Crunch – a fun way to celebrate one of the first locally grown vegetables to appear in school lunches in Alachua County. October is National Farm to School Month and, for us Floridians, it’s the beginning of local products in school lunches on a weekly basis!

This fall, we are purchasing cucumbers from The Family Garden Fair and Organic Farm.  We are so proud to work with a farm that takes such good care of their land and their workers.

We love being able to celebrate with others the reach Farm to School has – feeding hungry students, supporting family farms, and keeping money in the local economy. Join us by crunching on a local cucumber this month. It’s something to smile about.
